Jonathan Fitts is a Los Angeles based playwright, director, dramaturg, composer, and novelist. His play WHITE OR THE MUSKOX PLAY was a Finalist for the 2012 O’Neill National Playwrights’ Conference, won the Kennedy Center’s John Cauble National Short Play Award, and was published in Applause Books’ anthology “The Best American Short Plays 2011-2012.” A monologue from WHITE OR THE MUSKOX PLAY was subsequently included in the book "The Best Monologues from the Best Short Plays, Volume Three." Notable productions include RESURRECTION (The Producer’s Club, NYC), SYZYGY IN EREBUS – A SUMMONING (Emerging America Festival/A.R.T./Huntington Theatre), the original musical WHITECHAPEL (Campbell University, NCTC), PLAYGROUND (Burning Coal Theatre Company/The Distillery), THE PURSUIT OF MR. ROCKEFELLER (Appalachian State University, Davenport Theatrical Studios NYC), THE HOLLERIN’ CONTEST (Kent State University-Trumbull, Bluegrass Community & Technical College) and a workshop of LOBOTOMOBILE (The Public Theater/NYU, terraNOVA Groundbreakers Finalist). This year, his play THE SCENOGRAPHER was selected for inclusion in the Last Frontier Theatre Conference and was a semi-finalist for both PlayPenn 2016 and the Actor's Theatre of Charlotte's 2016 nuVoices Festival. His play LEVIATHAN was a finalist for the 2016 Seven Devils Playwrights Conference. He was the Cape Cod Theatre Project’s inaugural Kennedy Center fellow in 2012 and recently served as the Director of Education at Burning Coal Theatre Company, where he managed over ten education outreach programs specializing in playwriting, acting, Shakespeare, and directing. He wrote the concept/narrative for the music video "HIT & RUN" for New York based hip-hop/performance artist Kerry Blu. Currently, Jon writes full-time with Ariel Books and is developing several television projects. Jon holds a BA in Theatre from Appalachian State University and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University, where he was the recipient of the Rita & Burton Goldberg Departmental Fellowship and an award for outstanding achievement in writing for the stage. For television, Jon is part of a writing team with actor and writer Adam Jonas Segaller. He is represented by Ian Greenstein of Gersh.
